The NETA project seeks to develop and promote a West-East Eurocorridor
extending from Northern and Southern Ireland across the Irish Sea to the
Transpennine Corridor of Northern England and thence via the Humber ports
and North Sea to the Netherlands, North Germany, Poland and beyond.
Situated immediately to the north of Northern Europe's highly congested
central core, the project aims to improve economic and social cohesion
within a positive environmental context through more sustainable modes
of trade and transport, to enhance both prosperity and quality of life.
The NETA Concept aims to build and promote a dynamic economic and cultural
corridor across Northern Europe with a west-east alignment complementing
and linking with the existing predominantly north-south orientation and
recognising the new shape of the Europe of the future.
The congested core of Northern Europe, from the south-east of
England and Nord Pas de Calais to the Randstad and Rhein-Ruhr areas lies
immediately to the south, but the NETA corridor , home to over 130 million
people, seeks a more sustainable approach to economic prosperity combined
with an improved quality of life.
We have now completed the opening phase of NETA with our successful
conference in Amsterdam in October 2001. Details of our future activities
are set out on this web site.
NETA is an open organisation developing new ideas, concepts and networks.
